Medical Oncology / Hematology
Dr. James Lopez is a medical oncologist with a strong clinical background. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, before earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport in 2017. Dr. Lopez completed his Internal Medicine Residency at UAMS in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he gained extensive training in patient care. He then advanced his expertise with a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at LSU Health Shreveport, which he completed in 2024.
In addition to his training, Dr. Lopez served as an Assistant Professor and Hospitalist at UAMS from 2020 to 2021, contributing to the Department of Internal Medicine and the Division of Hematology/Oncology. His dedication to patient care is complemented by his active involvement in professional organizations such as the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Louisiana State Medical Society, and the Arkansas Medical Society. Through these associations, he stays updated on the latest advancements in the field to continually improve the care he provides.
Dr. Lopez is happily married to his beautiful wife and has four fur babies which him and his wife rescued along the way during his medical training. When he’s not at work, he can be found spending time outdoors exploring with his wife and dogs. He is also a major theme park enthusiast and regularly finds his way to theme parks to get his roller coaster adrenaline fix.
