Akash Mukherjee, MD

Dr. Akash Mukherjee is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist with specialized expertise in bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy. He earned his medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India, before completing his internal medicine residency at Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. He went on to complete a hematology-oncology fellowship at Houston Methodist Hospital and advanced fellowship training in stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

 

Prior to joining Highlands in 2026, Dr. Mukherjee served as Associate Medical Director of Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplantation, and Cellular Therapy at Oncology Hematology Care (OHC) in Cincinnati from 2024-2026 and as a faculty member in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences from 2019-2023. He brings extensive experience in the treatment of blood disorders and cancers, with a particular focus on bone marrow transplantation, cellular therapies, bispecific immunotherapies, and advanced hematologic care. Dr. Mukherjee has been recognized for his clinical excellence, academic leadership, and commitment to improving outcomes for patients facing complex hematologic and oncologic conditions.

 

In his free time, Dr. Mukherjee enjoys exploring nature, hiking, traveling with his family, and cooking.
