Ashley Hickman

Dr. Ashley D. Hickman is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician who recently joined Highlands Oncology as a Medical Oncologist and Hematologist. She completed her fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she also served as Chief Fellow in the Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology. Dr. Hickman earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and completed her Internal Medicine residency at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Education.

A native of Arkansas, Dr. Hickman graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies before pursuing her medical degree. Throughout her training, she has been recognized for her academic excellence and leadership, earning numerous honors including induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the Baum Foundation Scholarship for academic distinction, and the Outstanding Resident Award at Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Hickman has presented her research at national meetings of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research, and the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society. Her scholarly work focuses on gynecologic and neuroendocrine malignancies, melanoma, and the effects of immunotherapy in young patients.

In addition to her clinical and research pursuits, Dr. Hickman is passionate about medical education and physician wellness, having served as Co-Chair of the Mayo Clinic Internal Medicine Wellness Committee and as Chief Fellow, representing over 30 fellows in program leadership.

Dr. Hickman is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based cancer care that focuses on the whole patient—addressing both the medical and emotional aspects of treatment.
