Highlands Oncology is pleased to welcome Dr. Wesley B Garner to the practice and back to Northwest Arkansas. Dr. Garner is a hometown boy, having grown up in Fayetteville. Dr. Garner received his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas. Dr. Garner then received a Master of Public Health focused on Health Policy & Management graduating from UAMS with honors. He went on to earn a doctorate in medicine at UAMS in 2017.

In between his studies at UAMS, Dr. Garner took a year to study abroad and earned a Master of Specialized Economic Analysis & Health Economics from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics in 2013. Dr. Garner completed his residency in Radiation Oncology at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center / West Cancer Center while serving as Chief Resident from July 2020 – December 2021. Dr. Garner is a board-certified radiation oncologist.

The son of a physician, Wesley Garner grew up around healthcare and became aware of the needs within his community early on. Observing the impact his father’s work had on patients and their families lit a fire inside to pursue medicine. Having been affected by cancer within his own family and seeing how many lives it impacted around him, he ultimately decided to dedicate his career to serving cancer patients. He is passionate about being part of the fight to help people when they are most vulnerable.

Philanthropy and community service are deeply ingrained in the Garner DNA. Wesley seeks to build on that through any opportunity that makes meaningful strides to improve life for people living in NWA in need of shelter, food, or any healthcare-related services.

Wesley and his wife Katy are excited to be home with their 3 children and raising their family in Northwest Arkansas.

Dr. Wesley B. Garner is the son of Dr. Hershey Garner, a senior Radiation Oncologist at Highlands. Wes is fulfilling a life-long dream of serving his hometown, with the added bonus of working alongside his father in Radiation Oncology
