Highlands Oncology joins the Mountain Home community in remembering Dr. Dmitriy Zak, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, physician, and friend whose life was defined by service, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to others.
For the countless patients and families who knew him, Dr. Zak was more than a physician. He was a trusted advocate, a reassuring presence, and a source of hope during some of life’s most difficult moments. Known for his thoughtful approach and genuine compassion, he treated every patient with dignity, respect, and personal attention. Whether answering questions, offering encouragement, or guiding someone through a cancer diagnosis, Dr. Zak made people feel cared for not only as patients, but as individuals.
His dedication extended well beyond the exam room. Colleagues knew him as someone who would do whatever was necessary to help a patient receive the care they needed. He was a collaborator, a mentor, and a dependable friend who consistently put the needs of others before his own. His commitment to medicine was matched only by his kindness and generosity of spirit. Those who worked alongside Dr. Zak often speak of his humility, warmth, and genuine concern for everyone around him.
