To ensure timely access to your medication, please notify your pharmacy at least 48 hours in advance of when you will need a refill. If no refills remain, your pharmacy will contact your prescriber for a new prescription.

is provided.

Specialty Medications

Many specialty medications require prior approval from your insurance. We start this process with your physician immediately, but it may take up to 72 business hours to receive a decision. If denied, we’ll file an appeal, which may take an additional 5–7 business days.

We will always make every effort to fill your medication for you. However, some insurance plans require that these prescriptions be filled through a contracted specialty pharmacy,

which will ship the medication directly to you by mail. They will contact you to confirm your delivery details. This call may come from an unknown number, so be sure to answer—delivery cannot be scheduled without speaking to you.

If Highlands Pharmacy can’t fill your specialty medication, we’ll give you contact info for the designated specialty pharmacy, including a letter summarizing the process for your reference.

INSURANCE AND COPAYS

Highlands Pharmacy accepts most major insurance plans, and in most cases, your copay will be comparable regardless of which pharmacy you use. If you do not have prescription insurance, you may find that our retail pricing is competitive—if not lower—than other local pharmacies.

Some insurance plans may require prior authorization before your prescription can be filled. This process involves communication between your physician and your insurance provider. Our team specializes in managing these requests efficiently and will work to minimize any delays. If a prior authorization is needed, please allow 24–48 hours for your insurance provider to issue an approval or denial.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

If you do not have prescription insurance or your copay is not affordable, our team will assist you in determining whether you qualify for financial assistance programs offered by drug manufacturers or non-profit organizations. We will help you complete any required applications and guide you through the enrollment process.

Additionally, we partner with Hope Cancer Resources, a local non-profit organization that offers financial and support services to cancer patients in Northwest Arkansas.
