Understanding your cancer risk so it’s less likely to affect you and your family.

Our purpose is to help you understand what makes you high risk for developing cancer, and how to manage that risk through personalized assessments and education tailored to your unique health history and risk factors. Patients are seen by Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to ensure ongoing monitoring and coordination of care.

You may benefit from the C.A.R.E Clinic if you have:

  • Known hereditary genetic mutation causing increased cancer risks
  • Known high risk by prior assessment or atypical biopsy
  • Strong family history of breast, colon or pancreatic cancer
  • A history of breast disease or chest radiation

Here’s What to Expect at Your 1st Visit:

Upon arrival, you’ll meet with a patient navigator who will assist with paperwork, help you set up your patient portal, and guide you through the clinic layout.

You’ll then proceed to the second floor and check-in for your appointment.

The C.A.R.E Navigator will conduct a series of questions and assessments to ensure we have all the necessary information.

Finally, you’ll have a one hour visit with one of our Advanced Practice Providers. During this visit, you’ll discuss your cancer risk, risk-reducing measures, and receive a personalized screening plan. All your questions will be addressed thoroughly.

What is risk management?

Breast cancer risk management can include additional screenings for early detection, oral medications to reduce estrogen effects in breast tissue, riskreducing surgery such as mastectomy.

Colon cancer risk management can include earlier colonoscopies, more frequent colonoscopies than standard screening guidelines, lifestyle modifications, medications or supplements to mitigate risk.

Pancreatic cancer risk management can include enhanced screening with specialized MRI or endoscopic ultrasound. For patients with hereditary genetic mutations the options vary widely and are tailored specifically for your case.

Providers coordinate all testing needed and provide thorough education and any indicated risk-reducing measures. They can also help coordinate genetic testing for additional family members when indicated.
